Hey there! I’m Andy Platt.

Andy Platt, owner of Ghost Cat Woodworking, running a RunDisney race with determination and spirit.

Woodworking has long been a passion of mine, albeit one I shied away from for too long during my young-adult years. As a child I spent many a weekend with my grandfather in his basement woodworking shop, making little trinkets and even a few small tables. At a young age, he bought me my first saw, a few tool sets, and even built me a small workbench that sat in my childhood bedroom. Wanting to continue his legacy of making things, I endeavored to build my own woodworking shop alongside the home my wife and I purchased in Charlotte, North Carolina. My shop even features a few of his chisels, paintings, and that very same woodworking bench he built for my bedroom many years ago.

As a sole proprietor, I have worked to start my own little woodworking business, taking commissions that interest me and push my skills in new directions. From cutting boards to furniture, I want each project to teach me something new. I believe we never stop being a student.

Join me on this journey, and if you’d like to support me, consider requesting a commissioned piece of woodworking that pushes me further into the world of creating things.

Who is the Ghost Cat?

Ellie, the charming muse of Ghost Cat Woodworking, sitting pretty and ready to inspire.

The namesake of Ghost Cat Woodworking, Ellie has been part of our family since 2016. When we adopted her, she had been rescued from a hoarding situation and was very small and skittish. For the first few months after entering our lives, we only ever heard her at night, sneaking out from her hiding place under the couch to munch on her food (and making a general ruckus playing in our apartment). From then on we dubbed her “The Ghost Cat” (she’s much more social during the day now, though she still makes a ruckus at night).
